On Saturday, August 7, 2010 Holli Richey brought a wonderful event to Brick House Studio: our first Brick House Medicinal Plant Walk & Wild Plant Lunch. Our group of eight joined Holli at 10:00 am. for her talk and tour of the garden, followed by a cool-off break of spearmint seasoned watermelon. After another walk into the surrounding woodland, the group returned for a gourmet luncheon of sumac tea, wild salad (of violet leaves, plantain, arugala, avocado, and garden tomatoes), dolmas (wild muscadine leaves wrapping a yummy stuffing), sliced radishes for the hybiscus flower dip, and for dessert warm crostini topped with goat cheese, fresh figs, and blackberry drizzle. We are tentatively planning a Fall Plant Walk with Holli. Stay tuned, and to expand your knowledge and appreciation of the plant world visit Holli's blog and read her Sunday column in the Athens Banner Herald.
